P507 (2-Ethylhexylphosphoric acid mono-2-ethylhexyl ester) is an acidic phosphorus-based extractant. It appears as a colorless to light yellow oily liquid with a density of approximately 0.94 g/mL and a flash point above 150°C. It is soluble in organic solvents such as kerosene and alcohols, but insoluble in water.

Basic information

2-ETHYLHEXYL PHOSPHORIC ACID MONO-2- ETHYLHEXYLESTER(P507) is an acidic phosphorus-based extractant widely used in the extraction and separation of rare earth elements (such as neodymium, samarium, etc.) and non-ferrous metals. It is also applied in the recovery of lithium, cobalt, nickel, gold, copper, indium, and other valuable metals. In the metallurgical industry, it is typically dissolved in solvents such as kerosene and n-heptane for solvent extraction processes.

  1. Rare Earth Extraction & Separation – P507 is one of the most widely used extractants for separating rare earth elements, including neodymium (Nd), samarium (Sm), and yttrium (Y), due to its excellent selectivity and high loading capacity.

  2. Cobalt & Nickel Recovery – Employed in hydrometallurgical processes to extract and separate cobalt and nickel from leach solutions, especially in battery recycling and laterite ore processing.

  3. Lithium Extraction – Used in solvent extraction systems to recover lithium from brine and spodumene leach liquors.

  4. Non-Ferrous Metal Purification – Applied in the purification of copper, indium, gallium, and other valuable metals by removing impurities through solvent extraction.

  5. Waste Stream Treatment – Utilized in the recovery of heavy metals from industrial wastewater and recycling of spent catalysts.
